Text and image

KIVLAND, Sharon (2011). Text and image. [Show/Exhibition] [Show/Exhibition]

Abstract

A group exhibition

Over the past five years now, the “Summer Interval” shows at Galerie Bugdahn und Kaimer have presented through the summer months an annually varying look at different subjects and artistic stances. This year’s show, bearing the title of “Text + Image”, turns to the manifold aesthetic strategies in the simultaneous use of word and image in visual art.

The exhibition looks in particular at artists such as Robert Barry, Peter Hutchinson and Sharon Kivland, for whom this interest is a commitment at the core of their artistic practice. It interesting to see how, too, artists with a different hallmark approach undertake the occasional foray into the realm of pictorial and textual interplay, as do Jürgen Klauke, Marie-Jo Lafontaine, Thomas Ruff or Ingolf Timpner.
