Abstract

At its most basic a book consists of a folio – a sheet of paper once folded.

As part of the artists group AMBruno, Kivland was invited to make a one-fold book. She has taken what Emile Zola wrote about his character Nana, and made a drawing of the text, set in Didot. It is uncertain if this is a drawing or a book, as uncertain as it is if Nana is a woman or a book. In two editions of three, though each work is unique, the work is now in several collections.
