Whose Conspiracy?

REEVES, Chris and SPRUNG, Steve (2010). Whose Conspiracy? [Video] [Video]

Abstract
60 min digital documentary feature film Co-writer, Editor. Made in Collaboration with Chris Reeves (external) The Late 1960’s until the mid 80’s was a period of transition in political/industrial relations in the UK. Repeated attempts were made to ‘free’ labour from restrictive practices through the use of anti-union legislation whilst ‘liberalizing’ and removing barriers to capital through creating a culture in which monetary return became the one ‘Godly’ measure. Many voices were stifled in this process, non more viciously than that of the Shrewbury building workers who were arrested in the dead of night, tried and convicted under an 18th conspiracy law following the first national builders strike in 1972. The film re-visits their story and focuses attention in a very different direction to the mainstream media of 1972, onto the shadowy world of those that made the conspiracy allegations.
