Abstract
Violence and Discrimination Against Women Because of Their Status as Mothers: Evidence from Research in India across Three States
The remarks and recommendations presented in this submission, to Ms. Reem Alsalem, Special Rapporteur on violence against women, its causes and consequences, are based on three main pieces of research work undertaken by the author in India:
Research with men convicted of rape and murder in Tihar Jail, Delhi (2013-2016);
Research with victims of gender-based violence accessing the One Stop Centres (OSCs) in Bhopal (2018-2019); and
Research with women and girls on menstrual health and gender justice in the north-Indian state of Uttarakhand (2022-2024).
