Abstract
What is it like to cross the Mexico–US border every day just to go to school? Imagine waking before dawn, crossing an international border alone and navigating a school system that wasn’t built for you.
This book follows former transborder learners—students who lived in Mexico before the pandemic and studied in the US —as they go about their daily routines. From militarised checkpoints to exclusive classroom dynamics, these young people reveal a border that is lived, felt and constantly negotiated.
Through their voices, the book challenges dominant ideas of security and control, offering a powerful case for transborder policies rooted in care, connection and the everyday realities of youth who live between nations.
