Abstract
This research provides historical insights into the emergence of the Sheffield skateboarding scene in the past thirty years. Knowledge is produced through personal reflective autoethnographic recollection of direct experiences of the scene, supported by archival research of skateboarding magazines, a review of the growing academic literature on skateboarding in the city and analytical drawings, maps and photographs. This deliberately eclectic collection of material is assembled into a zine, because of the potential that this format has to accommodate a range of textual and visual registers and for its resonance with DIY publication produced within skating subculture(s).
