Abstract

The Learning Disability Research Initiative (LDRI) overview report pulls together a substantial body of research which shows changes in practice and outcomes following on from the Valuing People White Paper, and also highlights gaps and challenges to delivering the strategy. The LDRI makes an important contribution to policy and practice development and will be particularly valuable in taking forward the next steps needed to deliver the vision of the Valuing People strategy.

The report draws on 13 research studies commissioned by the Department of Health's Policy Research Programme, between 2001 and 2003, with the final study completing in 2007.
