Abstract

This special edition examines the ingredients and definitions of artists social practice. It draws together 17 key proponents of socially engaged art and explores their relationship to the social and how they see the future of the field, how projects happen, who is their audience and how is their work disseminated and validated, and how would they describe the importance of their networks. It ends with a summary of key issues including autonomy, value and networks.
