Abstract

Oral presentation exploring the significance of 'staying' when a project in the public realm appears to be 'going wrong'. The presentation examines the moment when 'real life' intrudes in the schema of an artwork, and through this friction, the work reveals the nature of the situation itself.

The presentation arose from my time as Cocheme Fellow with Air, at Central St Martins. The work undertaken, 'A Battle with Gravity' involves a residency with Tarmac Lafarge at Kings Cross. The resulting work is still underway, to be finished in 2016.
