Abstract

This exhibition presents work by six of this country’s leading artists who create art-work using glass. The exhibition includes artists: Matt Durran, Jerome Harrington, Helen Maurer, Richard Wheater, Emma Woffenden, Jeff Zimmer.

My work, Glass eliminates all confusion, is an installation made up of five components: three films and two sound elements broadcast via directional speakers. Referencing Jean Baudrillard description of glass in The System of Objects, the work examines the relationship of a historical glass object (the Crown Glass object) with contemporary understandings of material.

The installation provides a space where through the audiences active viewing experience, the five components combine, cross-fertilise and make new meanings through their interplay.
