This paper considers the unique culturally specific factors informing attitudes and responses to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender members of the community in Northern Ireland in the wake of ongoing equality and anti-discrimination/victimisation legislation and policy. Taking the furore surrounding the annual gay pride parade as a case study, the paper indicates how Northern Ireland's morally conservative political discourse poses challenges to a truly inclusive, post-conflict, 'new' Northern Ireland.
