Abstract
This chapter analyses homophobic hate crime policy, practice and experience in Northern Ireland in order to generate theories concerning this particular form of victimisation. Addressing the unique culturally specific contexts in which homosexual identities are considered and engaged with, this chapter outlines the challenges facing policy makers and statutory or community voluntary organisations tasked with combatting homophobic victimisation.
