Where R U: site-specific projection

Where R U is the collective heading for a series of commissioned public art projects that consist of roving projection events exploring the interpenetration of the public and private.

Where R U, Cathedral Square, Wakefield 26.02.01 – 09.04.01 uses overheard mobile phone conversations and text messages as raw data that was translated into illuminated text and presented as a series of roving projections in Cathedral Square. The ever changing, fragments of text allowed the audience to openly eavesdrop on tantalizing snippets of conversation.

Subsequent versions of Where R U explored the dissonance created by the public representation of private dialogue, projected onto a succession of non-urban environments.
