Abstract

The spin-1 Ising model, having nearest-neighbour bilinear and biquadratic exchange interactions and single-ion anisotropy, on a honeycomb lattice is studied by Monte Carlo simulation. The second-order phase boundaries separating the ferromagnetic, staggered quadrupolar and disordered phases are mapped for a range of interaction parameters. Particular emphasis is placed on locating accurately the line of tricritical points. The results are compared with those of other methods.
