Abstract
An immersive version of the film Cradle of Fire created for the Igloo at Sheffield Hallam University and screened as part of No Bounds Festival 2025. Cradle of Fire was an Arts Council England supported collaborative project between Carolyn Waudby, Diana Scarborough and musicologist Kim Cunio. It is a re-imagining of the story of Vulcan, Roman god of fires, furnaces and volcanoes, and an icon adopted by Sheffield at the height of the city’s steelmaking industry. The film has a poetry base written by Carolyn Waudby and combines song and spoken word with an original score and visuals.
