Abstract
This chapter takes the form of a roundtable conversation with members of the editorial team and chapter authors in Section III of this book, which was focused on the entanglement of place with children’s early language. The authors discuss the relationships, overlaps, synergies, and tensions between their practices. The discussion is framed around the following questions (first introduced in Chapter 1).
What else (in terms of objects, spaces, atmospheres, and so on) might be important to children and their language practices in our contexts?
What might ‘joining in with place’ look like in our contexts?
How might we create irresistible opportunities for joining in, which are welcoming and relevant for all children?
Finally, the authors reflect on what they hope other practitioners and researchers might take away from this chapter to use in their own work.
