Abstract
Carolyn Waudby gave a reading of her poem entitled Incident At St. Kilda during a talk by emeritus Professor and ornithologist Tim Birkhead to The Hunter Archaeological Society. The poem was inspired by the brutal killing of the last great auk in Britain by Hebridean islanders who believed it was a witch. The poem is published in the anthology Millstone Grit, Antiphon Press.
