Injection Simulator

Materials: injection needles, replacement skin, plastic tube, mock blood Measurements: 62 x 13 x 9 cm A preliminary study leading to Koski’s interest in vaccines was conducted at the Peninsula School of Medicine and Dentistry, where she familiarized herself with simulators and performative processes related to injections and venipuncture. This research regarded the objects employed in vaccine administration and resulted in the installation Injection Simulator, which utilizes an actual simulation arm with worn-out replacement skin, needles, and syringes. This background exploration thus focused on the material properties in simulating injection giving and visualization of the simulator’s life cycle, as educational trajectories that prime the students to encounter the body to be vaccinated.
