Abstract: | Babylon A.D. is a French Amercian science fiction action film based upon the novel Babylon Babies by Maurice Georges Dantec. This 20th Century Fox & Studio Canal film was directed by the award-winning French Director Mathieu Kassovitz (Gothika, 2003) and starred Vin Diesel (Pitch Black, 2000), Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, 2000) and Gerard Depardieu (Manon des Sources, 1986). This output relates to a commission by the film’s Production Designer Paul Cross to conceive, develop and model design concepts for 11 scenes in which technological gadgets are used by leading and supporting characters. Proposals for gadgets used in scenes 10, 19, 34, 75 were developed to an advanced level with prototypes/ digital renders reviewed by Mathieu Kassovitz. Dr David Swann's contributions are acknowledged in the film’s closing credits. |
