Abstract
This publication documents a ten month long research project which put science based researchers together with artists. The project began at Furnace Park, a site for interdisciplinary work in Sheffield, which was used throughout as a means of thinking about 1. Empathies between artistic and scientific research, 2. The relationship between academic work and its usefulness in the public realm and which served ultimately as a site to rekindle the relationship between intellectual productivity and play for the participants. I contributed various comments, images and a visual essay "Park Life" to the publication (incorporating classical images of parks and documentation of contemporary protests in parks with selected quotation from "Self-experience in the theme park of radical action? Social movements and political articulation in the late-modern condition" by Ingolfur Blühdorn (European Journal of Social Theory, 2006)
