Abstract

Jonathan Ive's design for the iMac marks the very point at which computers ceased to be pedestrian objects of work production and became instead aspirational signifiers in their own right. Selected for the permanent collection at MoMA and the recipient of many accolades, including a Gold 'Design of the Decade' Award from the Industrial Designers Society of America, the iMac is undoubtedly an icon of personal computing
