Abstract
This paper traces the rise and development of sustainable and ethical fashion since the 1990s, and discusses the upcycled couture gown from UK designer Gary Harvey, worn by Livia Firth at the 2011 Academy Awards ceremony as part of the Green Carpet Challenge.
