Autism in adulthood : the concepts of identity and difference

AYLOTT, Jill (2000). Autism in adulthood : the concepts of identity and difference. British Journal of Nursing, 9 (13), 851-856.

Abstract
This article explores the way people with autism are often required to adopt a negative social role within society because of societal attitudes and the way society attribtes the difference of autism as being 'negative'. The qualities and strengths of the condition of autism need to be recongnised and valued to encourage an understanding of difference as 'positive' and to impact positively on the individual's self esteem.
