ROBINSON, Andrew (2011). Drawn in Light: A visual exploration of Joanne Berry’s ‘Hijacking Natural Systems’. [Video]Full text not available from this repository.
My film ‘Drawing in Light’ was commissioned by artist Joanne Berry to accompany her Welcome Trust Funded project and exhibition ‘Hijacking Natural Systems’ which results from a year long collaboration between the artist and scientists in the Institute of Cell Signalling at the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham. The film both follows the development of the artworks and explores the science that inspired it with a strong focus on the use of digital technology and laser imaging which underpins both the artist’s and the scientists’ practices. The aim of the film is both to reveal the artists working method and to make the underlying science accessible and interesting to a wider audience. The film has been shown in exhibition at Derby Museum and Art Gallery (23/07/11 - 30/10/11), at the Lakeside Arts Centre, Nottingham (25/02/12 – 05/04/12), and presented at: The Grand Opening of Zeiss Imaging Labs, Munich Germany (October 2011); ‘Frequency: Lincoln Digital Culture Festival' (October 2011) and on the BBC Big Screen in Derby (July 2011).
