WESTERMAN, Julie (2006). Thinly veiled: commissioned for the entrance to ACT II, Grand Opera House, Belfast. [Artefact]Full text not available from this repository.
Thinly Veiled is one of several of commissions by Westerman based on research into the interface between art and design, where computer animation programs are translated into a physical output using industrial design processes, including rapid prototyping, CNC routing and laser-cutting.
Thinly Veiled – sited at Act II, the new extension for the Belfast Grand Opera House -- is a copper-etched representation of a virtual curtain depicted in the transition from open to closed as it spans the architrave and doors of the new studio theatre. It was produced by engraving a computer-generated wire frame design onto the theatre’s soundproof doors
