JOSEPH-LESTER, Jaspar (2008). Revisiting the Bonaventure Hotel. London, Copy Press.Full text not available from this repository.
Revisiting the Bonaventure Hotel develops from an established body of research that focuses on the influence of the media image on urban space. In this publication a series of video stills (taken from the many films made using the Bonaventure as a backdrop) are contrasted with photographs taken while following Fredric Jameson’s seminal account of the hotel. Moving between visual and theoretical references from architectural theory, cinema, cultural theory and philosophy this book considers how shared social space is experienced as a scripted journey through filmic narratives and embodied architectural affect. This publication was commissioned by Copy Press, edited by Professor Yve Lomax (RCA and Goldsmiths College) and is currently being reprinted as part of a new series of authored books entitled The Common Intellectual’.
