This paper trials a way of writing to transmit the experience of an artist and a group of 9-year old children working together to see, smell, taste, feel or hear ‘oddness’ in school. We document the curiosities evoked when a researcher observes an emerging interrogation of the meniscus of bodies and the school becoming blurred; a process of de/re/constructing skin and surface, insides and outsides, holes, rips, sinkings and punctures. Rooted in new materialisms (Barad, 2007), the ‘instruments’ used are inseparable from the emerging phenomena.
