Abstract

The reaction of the 2-(1-methylpyridinium-3-yl) benzimidazolate betaine with an equimolar proportion of tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) in the presence of acetonitrile results in the formation of a novel semiconducting black microcrystalline adduct having a room-temperature conductivity of 4.7 x 10(-3) S cm(-1).
