Abstract

This paper shows how FTIR-ATR microscopy can be used to monitor the distribution of components in polymeric membranes without the need for extensive sample preparation. The validity of the technique is proven using a different technique, namely ESEM. Three examples of its use are given; a drug in a pharmaceutical tablet, a biocide in a PVC formulation and a defect on a polymer coated metal.
