Abstract
“Cutting Itch” is a curatorial project by artists-duo Baltensperger-Siepert. An exhibition project about the essential need of art to be an active system that reflects, investigates social, cultural and political issues. It is about an existential necessity to shape ones environment, to think about relations, regulating structures and about how we can locate ourselves in a more and more globalised world. (from press material). Baltensperger & Siepert identified seven artists from Mexico, Hungary, Myanmar, the Lebanon, the USA and Switzerland and invited them to show photographic works at the Tan Kan Kee Art Center in Xiamen, China as part of the Jimei X Arles International Photo Festival. The Project was supported by the Consulate General of Switzerland in Guangzhou. (I showed photography from my research into plastic surgery in combination with images of artifacts related to the research). PROMOTED ARTISTS BY Baltensperger-Siepert: • Arturo Hernández-Alcázar (MX) • Bálint Rádóczy (HU) + • Kolatt Kyaw Zay Ya (MYA) • Christoph Zellweger (CH) • Elodie Pong (US/CH) • Gaby Steiner (CH) • Nadim Asfar (LB)
