Abstract
This chapter will revisit the meaning of the term ‘community’, which has recently been a rather ubiquitous term. The discussion traces the trajectory of the term in political philosophy (from Arendt) and in sociology (Cohen et al), and makes a distinction between the concept of ‘communities’ and what I argue to be ‘invented’ media communities.
