Abstract

Thin films of CdS and CdTe are deposited using electrochemical methods for utilisation in glass/ITO/CdS/CdTe/metal solar cells. Resulting films are characterised by XRD for determination of bulk structure, optical absorption/transmission for energy band gap measurements and XPS for monitoring the stoichiometry of the materials. These results and the photovoltaic properties of the preliminary structures fabricated with these films are discussed and presented in this communication.
