Hardware Hopes exhibition at Manchester Maker Faire

KEYTE, Julia (2014). Hardware Hopes exhibition at Manchester Maker Faire. [Show/Exhibition]
Creators:KEYTE, Julia
Abstract:

Hardware Hopes explores how we feel about the digital devices we own and use. We are recording peoples' stories of desire, enjoyment, breakage, failure, repair, (dis)empowerment, disposal… And finding out how emotion enters our relationships with computers. Are they just useful tools in a fast moving world, or can we get attached to them?

We asked visitors to Manchester Maker Faire about their experiences of digital devices and exhibited devices and collected stories.

Alongside the exhibition Julia Keyte undertook an artist's 'unresidency' at Access Space open digital arts lab, Sheffield.
