Abstract

In a recent study published in Sports Biomechanics (Volume 7, pages 322–332), Kenny et al.(2008) reported increases in carry distances with no concomitant decrease in accuracy as shaft length of golf drivers increased between 1.156m (45.5 inches) and 1.270m (50 inches). Although these findings are of interest to golfers, club fitters, and the custodians of the game, there are several issues that need to be verified before the results of this study can be fully accepted and their universality established.
