Let me tell you something straight away before I start. I am not a skier. To be honest, it's something that has always frightened me a little. I have long legs, and whenever I think of skiing, I imagine coming home with both of them in plaster. It's surprising, therefore, that David Lind and Scott Sanders' book actually makes me want to give it a go. And having read the book, I now feel that I have an idea of the physical principles involved. I might even be able to make my body do the right things – although I somehow doubt it.
