Abstract:	BBC Radio 4's The Headline Ballads. A new series in which Poets respond to stories underneath the world news headlines. Programme 1. The Island, the Sea, the Volunteer and the Refugee with poetry by Louise Wallwein. As the pressure in Greece from the humanitarian refugee crisis subsides, Poet Louise Wallwein who has a long-standing relationship with the Island of Kos, travels back to Kos Town where she worked as a volunteer helping arriving refugees during the past year. In the wake of an agreement with Turkey, as the numbers of migrants crossing the sea from Bodrum to Kos falls dramatically, she travels back to find out how the humanitarian crisis played out on their doorstep has affected the Islanders and to meet the refugees who are left behind. Producer. Susan Roberts. Dr David Swann accompanied Sue Roberts and Louise Wallwein to Kos in March 2016. Over 3 days, David accompanied and supported cameraman Tim Baxter and his assistance Karl Dixon on location, as well as photographing significant refugee sites and the spectral objects left behind. David's 'on location photographs' are shown on the BBC Radio 4's gallery pages that accompanies the first Headline Ballad by Louise Wallwein, 'The Island, the Sea, the Volunteer and the Refugee'. Due to BBC union rules David's name does not appear in the credits.
