We read with interest the article “Validation of the Kinect Device as a New Portable Imaging System for Three-Dimensional Breast Assessment”.1 The earliest work, to our knowledge, which has used the Kinect to image the breast surface for measurement and reconstruction is that by Oliveira et al.2 in 2011, who also provide a substantial review of breast imaging methods.3 For this reason we would contest the claim that Henseler et al.'s work represents use of the Kinect “in a new application in the health care sector”.
